Capsule

Karen Walker eyewear, wwillthebeast necklace, 15/37 shirt, Gap trousers, SM Parisian court shoes, bags by rubbertree roll top tote

Inspired by the self-discipline of a good friend who had undergone the same exercise, this month I am imposing on myself a shopping ban. (And okay, it might also be because late in June I had to buy gifts for some special people for their birthdays this month, and I might have gone a little over my budget.)

Thus, for July, all my blog posts will feature things I already own; perhaps, even things I've had for a few years now. This month the blog will be all about the building blocks of a capsule wardrobe--pieces that stand the test of time and can be worn with any trend.

Let me start with the white shirt. The sartorial equivalent of a blank canvas. Clean, crisp, and can be dressed up or down to your liking. The most classic is the kind that falls longer and has long sleeves, but a cropped, short-sleeved version like what I'm wearing is just as functional. Pair it with dress trousers and modest heels like I did for a look deemed work-appropriate, or denim cut offs and sandals or sneakers for the most laid back days.
